2. 07 GSXR 1000 available for use in 2009

After an engine is available for 2 years that model can be used, including the current year until that version (model) is revised.

All engines must remain stock. The definition of stock is... The way that the factory installed the engine into the motorcycle to be sold and used on public roads and highways within the USA.

No factory or aftermarket race components can be used. (oil pan / pick up is the only exception)

Factory stock ECU must be used with the factory set rev - limiter in place at the factory set RPM.

All 1000cc cars must have the Sidewinder standard connector (same as the PA 600’s) to check engine rpm rev limit. These are available from the chassis manufactures and engine builders. All cars must leave intact the rpm wire coming from the ECU.

Power commanders or other fuel mapping devices are allowed for fuel map adjustments. No devices can be used that have the capability of running the engine without the factory ECU.

No ignition modules allowed. Traction control devices are strictly prohibited.

All engines will be subject to tear down at any time. During tech, engines will be thoroughly checked for compliance. A static compression test may be performed. Bore and stroke may also be tested. Factory settings (with a tolerance) will be checked. Teams must be prepared to remove their oil pan plug and oil at anytime for tech purposes. The teams are requesting more tech and as such more tech will be performed. Oil pans may be dropped at anytime. Please come prepared. No boring or modifications of the throttle bodies. All injectors must remain in the factory stock location(s). (Exemption; the 2007 model Suzuki GSXR1000 engine will be allowed to have its top injectors relocated to the top of the air box due to the impossibility of the factory location being able to be converted to methanol)

Airbox: Factory or aftermarket air boxes/ filter can be used. (Carbon Fiber is allowed) No superchargers, turbo chargers or nitrous.

G 1C.    Exhaust; Header: Any header can be used. Silencers/mufflers optional. (subject to review)

The price of the claimed engine will be $3300.  ($300 will be used to have an engine builder certify the legality of the claimed engine) This will not include wiring, fuel injection, airbox and oil pan/pick up (if modified). Claimed engine will be inspected for legality. If the engine is found illegal at that time, the claimer will be refunded the $3300 and the claimee will be fined $300 (car and driver will not be allowed to compete again, until the fine is paid), in addition to the penalties below.  To give the claimee enough time to purchase and install a new engine, the claimee will be provided two weeks (14 Days) to prepare his car with a new engine. Any races during that period, the claimee will be provided points for each event at the average of his points for the events that he competed in for the year. (This will be calculated weekly and his average points adjusted accordingly)

H 9. To gain points, the car must take the green flag in the A main. The only exceptions to this rule is if the car took a green flag during qualifying or hot laps and we have less than a full field and his car becomes incapacitated for the feature.(They must report to Sidewinder officials explaining the problem before the feature)

I)        Race Format

I 1.

All teams must sign in with Sidewinder Sprints each night. Only Sidewinder Sprints will be performing line ups each night. Special shows are subject to different formats.

Heats: The first heat races of the season will be lined up by pill draw for the entire field. Only races that the driver received points will count towards heat race lineups.

For the second race, cars will be inverted from low points in the front to high points in the rear from the first race. For the third race, points from both races will be added and cars will again be inverted per the second race format. Cars only competing in 1 race at that time will have their points from that race doubled.  For the fourth race all points from the first 3 races will be added for the lineups and again inverted per the second race format.

(1a) Once three races are completed, the points from the drivers previous three appearances will be used to determine starting lineup. If a driver does not have 3 appearances at that time, his previous appearances will be used as follows; If only one race, his points for that race will be tripled. If only two races, his points will be added, and the highest points from those two races will be used as the third race.

Any driver that has not made a start with Sidewinder Sprints in 2010 shall pull a pill for their first race. Those pills are potentially numbered from 1-24 to represent their feature finish and will only contain as many pills as the previous feature’s car count. That driver will then be awarded triple those respective points associated with that finish position. They will then be slotted into the invert system above.  After the first race for that driver, their position will be calculated in the method above (1a)

For drivers with equal points, the tie break shall be the drivers last attended race finish. (The tied cars shall be inverted based on the lowest to the front for that position.) Any driver that was DQ’ed at their previous race will be “awarded” maximum points (100pts for first place) for heat race handicapping purposes.

2)   Consi: When starting 24 cars, with car counts over 27 cars, a consi will be ran for the positions 19-24. (Less than 27 cars, we will start all 26 in the feature). When starting 30 cars (big tracks) a consi will be ran for the positions 25 to 30, when car counts exceed 30 cars.

Consis will be limited to no more than 16 cars per consi. The consi line-up will be straight up from the heat race finish order of non-qualifiers. The top 6 cars will transfer.

If two consis are needed, the top 3 in each will transfer. All cars that transfer will start straight up from their finishing positions.

 3) Feature: the feature line-up will be straight up from the heat race finishes.

Note with the following exceptions:

Fast Fives; Cars that finish in the top five in their last race they competed in will be placed into a “Fast Fives” group.  Cars in the “Fast Fives” group that finish in the top 15 qualifiers will be placed in order of their qualifying positions with the “last qualifying fast fives” car starting 15th and the rest counting down to their highest qualifier from the heats. All other top 15 qualified cars will be bumped forward in front of the “Fast Fives cars”. Each night’s “Qualified Fast Fives” will receive 10 bonus points.

19th to 24th or 25th to 30th as applicable will be by consolation finish or by heat race finish if a consi is not run.

If a driver changes rides during the event, that driver must start rear of field at the next qualified race (Consi or feature)
