Brent Marks is the first to double up in 2008 Sidewinder Sprints.
With over 2 inches of rain in South Central Pennsylvania on Thursday night and most of the day Friday, almost all of the normal Friday Night tracks cancelled, the exception being Path Valley. Obviously we were in for a “heavy” track and the track crew really needs to be commended for even being able to get the surface race ready under such trying conditions.
Fast was an understatement in describing the racing action. The track's tackiness provided the only time that the Sidewinder Sprints have been able to “flat foot” around Path Valley during a feature event.
The extra horsepower of the Sidewinder Sprints came into play on the exceptionally tacky surface. Earlier in the evening the 600cc micros were clocked at 68 MPH entering turn one in their feature. The radar gun showed 83 MPH for the Sidewinder Sprints.
Fifth starting Brent Marks made his moves forward taking car after cat until he reached 2nd place on lap 10. The race was going non-stop, and Tim Mertz had a handy lead by more than a straight, so Brent set his sights on consistent fast laps. On lap 16 Brent was able to draw along side Tim going down the front stretch and completed the pass ½ lap later on the backstretch. A caution on the final lap lead to a one lap shootout, but Brent was super fast and able to hold on to take the win. The first five were Marks, Mertz, Jason Morrison, Sean Campbell and Rich Hench.
In victory lane Brent thanked “MAC Medical, Memtec Services Inc. , Yiengst Fabrication, Karen Marks Hair Center, TJ's Body Shop, VRP Shocks and his car owner Terry Ford for providing him with such a fast car.” Brent went on to say “thanks the Path Valley crew for providing such a racy track under such trying conditions.”

A. Not this week. Tim Mertz almost scored a win, coming in a strong 2nd and beating the Hypers to the finish line.
