Morrison takes first Path Valley win
With another beautifully prepared racing surface (read; fast, fast, fast), Jason Morrison had his Kawasaki powered Hyper Racing car hooked up and downright flying. With lap times in the feature event running at the 10.7 second mark (compared to the 410 sprint cars that used to lap in the high 9 second bracket), it became a fast and furious battle of stamina and car set up with a lot of cars still very tight on the tacky racing surface requiring even more effort from the drivers.
All the Sidewinder drivers where a little edgy on the initial starts, getting on the gas hard and performing wheel stands causing some anxious moments as the pack scrambled for position. Once under way, Morrison was able to ascertain his dominance and shoot out to a commanding straight away lead. Ryan Greth was soon into second position but was unable to catch a dominant Morrison.
The hard charger of the night was definitely Arron Spahr in his Yamaha powered Hyper Chassis, who despite having a left rear tire losing air was able to charge his way from his 12th starting position to finish 3rd.
Jason, obviously happy with his first ever Path Valley win and second ever Sidewinder Sprints win, performed a donut / wheel stand / pirouette on the way to victory lane. (Hopefully Mike from MVP productions (www.motorsportvideoproduction.com ) was able to catch the footage)
When he finally arrived in Path Valley’s victory lane, Jason said “Thank you to my crew, Bud Morrison, Brandon Morrison, Lucas and my wife, Malin. My sponsors, Hyper Racing, Guhl Motors, Lias Tire American Racer, ARS Shocks and Mr.Dent Inc. I would also like to thank Path Valley for a fast track last night. Good job getting the track ready and keeping it racy”
With his win last night, Morrison has jumped to the lead in the coveted Hyper Cup points standings. Only 5 points separate the top 3 cars. Another way to look at the closeness in the point standings is that 5 points equals less than 1% of the points available so far this season. We still have another 18 points races to complete the season.
Parity Report; The top 10 cars were 3 Kawasaki, 5 Yamaha and 2 Suzuki engines.
Making his Sidewinder Sprints debut was Steve Dull in his immaculate #5D Yamaha powered Hyper Racing Chassis. During the night Steve commented on how much fun the extra power is, how fast the cars accelerate and the overall speed of the car being very challenging.
Other big news this week is the addition of the Sidewinder Sprints to the Super 600 Showdown (www.super600showdown.com) race at Lanco on July 5th. The Sidewinders will compete in their own 20 lap winged feature event before taking the wings off to compete in the 20 lap Sidewinder / 600cc wingless challenge race.

This Weeks Question;
Q. Can the defending track champion, Donnie Hendershot turn his luck around and visit victory lane for the first time in 2008.
A. Unfortunately due to the fair weather conditions on the farm, and being so far behind their planting schedule due to the previous weeks rain, team Hendershot decided to race the farm instead and continue planting the corn.
Next Weeks Question;
Q. Can Jerry Strausbaugh continue his good form and earn another top 10 finish?
