Sidewinder Sprints...what...where...when...and how...
Lets start with the "what"....
Sidewinder Sprints was formed in September 2006 with the
following
goals in mind;
We started with the basic 600cc racing rules... and modified
them to achieve the following;
Decrease the cost (OEM standard engines, tire rules, limitation
on cockpit adjustables etc)
Increase the horsepower to make the car more exciting to drive
(who doesn't want more HP?)
Unhook the car to focus on driver and car setup ability (More
HP, Harder tire, Less grip)
Focus on promoting micro racing as a premier division in
speedway racing.
"Where" and "when" are next...
In 2007 Sidewinder Sprints will be appearing at Path valley on
Friday Nights, and Trail-Way Speedway on Saturday Nights, please
see our schedule for the race dates.
Now for the "how" part...
Take an existing or new 600cc chassis, add a 1000cc engine (all
the rules are on the website) and you now have a potent
Sidewinder Sprint.
Register your car/driver/owner and lets go racing...it really is
that simple to join the most exciting new class in 2007!
Sidewinder Sprints are very appreciative of the vision shown by
both Path Valley and Trail-Way Speedways in scheduling the
Sidewinders in their inaugural season and are looking forward to
helping both tracks have a successful 2007.

Path Valley.. Mertz takes the win, Greth takes second…the shootout
continues. Finally a perfect weather night helped produce a perfect track
surface that resulted in many teams expressing their gratitude to Path
Valley for the increased “fun factor” from the super racy multi groove
surface.
From his 3rd position on the grid, Tim Mertz was
always going to be the one to beat. All year it seems that
Mertz has “found something” to his liking at Path Valley and
this night’s feature race was no exception.

Sidewinder Sprints
listens to the racers !!
In the interest of
containing costs for all racers, Sidewinder Sprints have made a
rule modification that should have a major impact for all
current and perspective racers. While we still strongly
recommend a 2"
axle for long term cost effectiveness,
after careful consideration and extensive consultation with
interested racers and suppliers, we have decided to allow
the 1 3/4" axles. This will allow current
racers that are considering the move to the Sidewinders to use their existing 600cc cars and
wheels with only an engine change
and a chain/sprocket upgrade. This rule change will
help those racers looking to purchase rollers and team
buyouts, as all existing wheels, brakes, spacers etc can now be
utilized. The 530 chain and
sprocket rule
will remain in effect.
